Circumcision Effect on Sex

In some initial studies to examine the effect of circumcision on sexual function, two new studies give opposite results and provide evidence to support both parties are arguing about this procedure. In one study, researchers from the University of North Carolina, led by Dr. Kenneth Fink showed that adult men who perform circumcision reported either a decrease in erectile function and penile sensitivity after the procedure.
Meanwhile, in another study, based on results from a smaller group of patients, Dr. Sean Collins of Louisiana State University and his team found that adult men who had just circumcised reported no difference in sexual function after the procedure.
Fink and his team also noted, although it reported a decline in their sexual function, 62% of men said if they were satisfied with the results of this procedure. In two studies, most men undergoing this procedure for the treatment of medical conditions, such as fimosis, a condition where the outer skin can not be drawn past the head of the penis.
Recently, a debate took place regarding this procedure, with one hand stresses decrease in the number of infections and STDs among men who were circumcised and the other party emphasizes pain and stress caused to a baby during the circumcision, in addition to complications that may be caused by the procedure this. Currently, the American Academy of Pediatrics considers the potential medical benefits of male circumcision is not too important to be until it is recommended that all boys were circumcised.
In a study by Fink and his team, the researchers examined 123 men who had been circumcised to compare sexual function and pleasure they feel before and after the circumcision, while research Collins and his colleagues based on a survey of 15 men who carried out circumcision at the time before and 12 weeks after the procedure.
Commenting on the research, Collins told Reuters Health, Fink explained when talking to patients before and after the procedure is a better way to measure change, but if only for 15 patients is too small to detect anything except the size difference.
Fink added that the second weakness of this study they examined changes in sexual function in adults after a circumcision, which, in many cases, perform circumcision to improve their medical problems. Consequently, the Fink explained that the report of a man of pleasure and sexual function may be affected by a medical condition marked by circumcision.
For this reason, Fink said, a person can expect to research participants reported improvement in sexual function after the circumcision, which may be due to improved medical conditions. However, the decline in sexual function, as reported in the research Fink, suggesting that there may be other factors that influence these changes, he said.
As an explanation of why men in the study reported high satisfaction despite a decrease in sexual functioning, Fink says that some people feel good will decrease sensitivity, which allows them to delay orgasm and better satisfy their partner. Fink noted that he would report their sexual satisfaction depends on many factors. "It means different things to different men," he said, "Overall, it seems quite worthwhile for them to undergo circumcision this.
Fink emphasized that research on adult circumcision can not be directly applied to the newborn. But maybe it could be a consideration when deciding which parent to circumcise their children. (Klinikpria.com)
